The honest answer is that it depends — but not on what most people assume. Page count barely moves the price. What moves it is how many decisions somebody makes on your behalf.
Template build, roughly €900 to €2,500. A purchased theme, adjusted colours, your text dropped in. That is a legitimate answer for a project that needs to exist and nothing more. You are not buying design or positioning — you are buying a page.
Custom company website, roughly €3,000 to €7,000. Original design, a structure built around what you actually sell, a clean technical base, multilingual where needed. Most serious small and mid-sized projects in Austria land here.
Custom development, from roughly €8,000. As soon as real functionality appears — booking flows, customer portals, shops with their own logic, connections to systems you already run — the work stops being design and starts being engineering. Price follows effort, not page count.
Does content exist? Copy and images are the most common reason projects cost more than planned. Supplying your own text saves money. Intending to supply it and then not getting to it for three months costs project time instead.
How many languages? A second language is not a switch. Each one needs its own copy, its own URLs, correct hreflang markup, and somebody keeping both versions current.
Who maintains it? A system you can edit yourself costs more to build and less every year after. A hard-coded site is cheaper up front and an invoice for every change.
What happens after launch? A website nobody finds is a business card with a hosting bill. If you want to be found on Google, structure, load time and content belong in the build — retrofitting them costs more.
A flat price offered without questions is a warning sign. Anyone who does not know your goals, your audience and the state of your content is not calculating, they are guessing. Same for “SEO included” with no statement of what that covers. And any quote that does not settle who owns the design and the code.
We work with fixed package prices rather than hourly estimates, because a fixed price moves the risk to where it belongs — onto us. What that means for your project depends on what you already have, which is exactly why ours start with a free audit rather than a number.
For a multilingual company website with its own design, real content and a clean technical base, the realistic range is roughly €3,000 to €7,000. Below that you are usually buying a template with the colours swapped; above it, custom functionality starts.
Because they rarely describe the same thing. Price follows scope: how many templates, how many languages, whether copy and photography exist, whether there is a shop or forms with logic, and who maintains the content afterwards. Two quotes are only comparable once both state those things.
Domain and hosting sit in the low hundreds of euros per year for most business sites. Add maintenance and updates if the site runs on a CMS. If you publish content regularly, budget editorial time separately.
